Have to say I wasn't very surprised at these results......Slabba and a large group of other Brits (Flanagan, Rushby, Eaton, Ward etc + juniors) played about 4 of these futures last year and absolutely hated it, don't think anyone got past rd2 most weeks......reason being the courts are incredibly slow, you just cannot get the ball through the court so you have to adapt your game, be a lot more patient, hit with more spin than usual and none of the guys were able to do that last year
Slabba and Goodall are both big hitters, like the fast surfaces and being able to dictate with big serves and forehands and finish at the net...they will hate these courts and against opponents happy to just put the ball back in play over and over again, they will struggle
I thought it was a scheduling error to play here tbh....should have gone for the three 10K+Hs in France...don't understand why they chose Portugal for 1st two weeks
