Plus there's [...] 17 year old George Coupland....don't underestimate "the power of youth"

How did Coupland get on?  I can't seem to see the outcome of his match with Harsh Mankad anywhere...! confused

P.S.  It was due to be played on Court 2 after Starakiewicz/Skupski, which must've lasted a while...

Sorry....Coupland v Mankad is the last singles of the day to finish....

Young George has taken Mankad to a final set...he was 3-5 down in the second set and fought back to take the TB....fingers crossed pray.gif

Disappointing for Ken, though I'm pleased for the young Pole, everyone has been charmed by him, he gets a bus from his £20 a night guest house to the centre every day to save on the taxi fare, dont know how many of the British players are on the bus but I reckon not many, that's his first ever point, and so maybe Skupster can forgive him this one.

By all accounts both Matthewson and Morgan did really well, and sounds like Coupland did even better, shame he couldnt get his first point, he's done really well to qualify and then to get that close to winning such a close game, but hope he can build on this week.

Two doubles results, courtesy of the ITF site:

BERGMAN (SWE)/KUMLIN (SWE) defeated BRADSHAW (GBR)/HARFIELD (GBR) 6-0 6-2

BREWER (GBR)/FLANAGAN (GBR) (3) defeated MEKTIC (CRO)/ZOVKO (CRO) 6-4 6-4

Mixed fortunes for the Brits there, but definitely a good day at the office for Flan! cry  smile  I presume the other six are being held over until tomorrow...

Bloomers will play Bergman in Quarters, Flan and Brewer lost dubs in straights, think it was 4 & 4.

Bloomers looking in pretty good form, encouraginly Matt Smith also looks like he's on the way back, made him work hard for the win.

Bloomers is having 2 weeks off after this and then playing two ATP Qualies (Delray Beach and San Remo I think he said).
