It'd have to be Sheffield for me. weirdface Where abouts is it to be held in Sheffield? It's not too far for me to go if I can find the time. thumbsup.gif

Should probably be there for two days of this..

I was thinking of going for Monday/Tuesday; would people say that these are the best two days to go for No. of matches/players?

Monday will be last day of qualies and Tuesday will be 1st round.  So 8 matches on days 1 and 16 on day 2 (unless they play some 1st rounds on the Monday too).  Most quantity of matches but not necessarily best quality.  However to see what British tennis has to offer, these are probably the best two days.

From my pov I'd go for tuesday/ wednesday, you'll get 16 singles on tuesday and probably 8 singles and 8 doubles on wednesday, and better quality than the qualies.

The tournament is to be held at the graves tennis centre which is at the southern tip of Sheffield at the end of the A61 by pass from Chesterfield. Come off at Junction 29 if coming from the south and Junction 33 if coming from the north.

Have been to Sheffield for 3 or 4 hours today.

WC's have gone to Bloomfield, Joshua Milton, George Morgan and one other who I cant remember

Dont know all the scores but many of the results.

QR1 (GB unless stated)

Coupland bt Regan
Baxendine bt Gledden
Modebe bt Baker
A Kurtis (SVK) bt Bradshaw
Barnes bt Roenn
Starakiewicz (POL) bt Harfield
Parry bt Arjomandkhah (IRI)
Dupuy (FRA) bt Yermekbayev (KAZ)
Zovko (CRO) bt Soldatov (RUS)
Karpol (CRO) bt Jones

QR2
RUSHBY (Q1) bt Galvan (ESP) 1&1
Coupland bt SLETTING JOHNSEN (NOR) (Q11)think it was 3rd set tb smile
SMITH (Q2) bt Zungunde straights, first set was tb
KINSELLA (Q14) bt Baxendine in three
BRASSINGTON (Q13) bt A Barnes 63 61
Starakewicz (POL) bt ILLINGWORTH (Q9) in three 63 in the third
ALLINSON (Q6) bt Parry straights

Andrew Fitzpatrick's game against Karpol was in the third set with Andrew a break behind, but Andrew had won the first set and was 6-3 up with two mini breaks in the second set tie break, but missed three match points with a double fault, a missed volley and an ambitious backhand , lost five straight points in all to lose tb 8-6. He was then broken in the first game of the third, and was trailing I think 2-3 with a break in the third. Would be a great effort to come back and win from there!

Enjoyed the Starakiewicz- Illingworth game, close contest, with the Pole just taking it in the end.

Coupland impressed those who saw him with win over the Norwegian Scouser Frederick Sletting Johnsen (a mate of Skupski's).

Had an interesting chat with Jeremy Bates, probably not for publication on an open forum, although nothing secret just his opinions on the up and coming British players.

Amyway if I get to see any more over the week I will let you know. Maybe even get to see Trivial at some point, who knows, for info Trivial I think most of the players are at the sandpiper in Dronfield if you fancy a bevy with them.
