Week 2 - Australian Open Qualifying

I think if Bally repeats her form from the Auckland qualies, then she got a great chance. not sure about Katie since it will be her first match, so will be rusty. Mel has a tough draw, i expect her to lose. Anne playing a clay courter in the first rd, so she may win but it will be tough from then.

Mel, given the match she played against Kremer, stands a chance of making round 2 but the Erakovic-Dokic winner will be a tester. I would quite like to see Elena make round 3 if only for the chance to see a Dokic rematch or even a Mel rematch! Oooooooh! (But I'd love to see her qualify of course!!!! Phew! Out of the hole...)

Anne's 2nd round with Niculescu potentially? Eeeeeeep. Another bane of the British girls at the moment. Anne should win her opener but to get the top seed in your section is, regardless of who it is, bound to be a little bit daunting. I don't know whether Bychkova is a HUGE threat though...

Katie's section is actually not tooooo bad. She has beaten Yuan before, there's no reason she can't beat Kustova and Gumulya and Wickmayer are not bad 2nd round opponents. Providing she has recovered, I can see Katie being the best bet to qualify by all accounts.

Not amazing draws but Katies and Annes are OK. Mel and Bally have the toughest section i;ve ever seen in a grandslam qualifying ever.

Anne breaks back and then finally holds serve to lead 5-4*

Cravero will now serve to stay in the set.

Katie is currently down a break *3-2 in the first set, but I'm afraid that's bedtime for me.
