@ Seagull, wow thats keen! i would have thought he would want that back up as Peya wont be easy and surely there would be enouigh time to get from melbourne to miami? with it being the aoq week i would be supried if the miami sign in is early, oh i forgot jamie was only an alt. i assume alex is still in it? is there a local futures jamie could go for instead or something? as if he gets knocked out here it will be quite a while till his next match. could he go to la serna qualies?
@ arka, so that guy was only 15 and won!! thats amazing. there will be big things expected from him soon.

Baker was not an alternate he was a direct entry so he cannot play anywhere else. Boggo is still on the list. Jamie not down for anywhere in Week 4 either which is strange..maybe Vina Del Mar qualifying?
VDM qualies is a good bet, i have heard something about them staying in VDM anyway and i am sure alex mentioned it b4, but surely they can fit both Hawaii and VDM in (unless they go deep in hawaii, which would be great anyway)
it looks to me as if Alex is trying to get as many matches in as possible, whilst Jamie will maybe concentrate on training more?

It does seem very odd that Jamie has pulled out of the Challenger in Hawaii when he qualified and then reached the Final there last year and has 45 points to defend.
Maybe he only intended to go there this year if he had reached the main draw in Auckland and wasn't able to play in AO qualifying, though I still don't understand why the would give up a DA place in Hawaii so far in advance.
A more plausible explanation might be that he thinks playing VdM qualifying will give him more chance of playing a DC rubber.
The interesting thing about Jamie, which sets him apart from a lot of the other Brits, is that he really seems to want to play events at as high a level as possible even if that's unlikely to maximise his points total in the short-term. Perhaps he thinks that approach is more likely to get him up to ATP level in the longer term and, more importantly, make him better prepared to stay there if he does get there.

Hey Count - I have just been reading some comments on the BBC forum, ask them where the hell did they get their information that Jamie Murray had agreed to play with Mark Knowles at the Australian Open!!!??? Seriously, they are idiots over there!
Steven he pulled out of Miami, dont think he applied for Hawaii this year, unless is is way down the alt list.
miami wouldnt clash at all with VdM and its clay (green, but i guess better than hard)
will be interesting to see if alex stays in (if he loses on friday)
my feeling is that winning as many matches between now and the DC will give you the best chance, neither are going to become clay court maestros between now and then so i think getting in a winning groove could be better.

Hugely impressive wins for both Jamie and Alex. I was surprised to see Jamie win so easily against Schukin. I actually thought it'd be closer than that.
Alex's scoreline is just as impressive given that a few seasons ago Ginepri was a US Open semi-finalist. My, how he has fallen. Watched him at Nottingham a couple of times and thought he was really impressive at the time.
JM Gambill springs to mind for some reason. One good season and he was kinda... gone really.
