Just noticed that Jamie beat Peya at Queens last year....Peya really done nothing since beating some top players at Zagreb early last year and struggled to win his opening match.

Big chance here

Stadler won.

According to my SB they were playing on both court 8 and 15. Clever stuff. On court 15 Stadler hasn't won yet laughing.gif

yeah peya is the 'best' player jamie has beaten, so he will surely be up for it. also he seemed to struggle to win today.

todays win must also count as 1 of jamie best ever.

clap.gifclap.gif Great results from both of our boys. I thought Jamie had a great chance but didn't expect it to be that much of a walkover and from the sounds of the report, that wasn't simply a case of Schukin playing very badly. biggrin.gif

Boggo as well, lovely to see him come through.

I hope for two more wins, but having both of them through has already exceeded my expectations so I'm pretty happy.

i think maybe snobel picked up a knock. after such a tight 1st set, long break then a walkover 2nd set always looks suspcious.

livescores are great but they also raise so many questions. some time sseeing the end result is better.

Wow, I was expecting Boggo to win (didn't say it, I am extremley superstitious, and don't like to jinx things) but OMG god at Jamie's result.

i have emailed alex, see if he has anything to say about the match (normally very little tho)
but looking at the stats he did seem to serve well, 74% of 1st serves in the 1st aset and 85% in the 2nd. no df's, and a 93% win on 1st serve.

even is RG was injured getting that many 1st serves in is nice (7 aces too)

RG serve % was 58 and with him only winning 30% on his 2nd serves its no wonder alex won.

only took 4 of 9 bp's, i know it was enough, but i want him to take more of these big points. over 50% at least as these are the ones that really matter in the end.

If I'm still dreaming (and I must be, surely!), I don't think I want to wake up!

Whether or not Ginepri was having an off day, the LTA report at http://www.lta.org.uk/Newsroom/AustralianOpen2008/DailyReportsNews/080109BoggoBakerMarchOnInOz.htm?BSMGuid=71424be0-aa5a-4020-9313-c677c58186ff says that Boggo had a 1st serve % of 78% and only made 6 unforced errors in the whole match, which is an awesome performance by anyone's standards.

Wouldn't it be nice if they can keep this form up for a few more days ...

Btw I watched the very end of Jamie's match against Peya at Queen's - he was SO happy to win that one, coming back from a set down to win 3-6 7-6(5) 6-3, so I imagine he's going to be desperate to do the same again. Peya has beaten most of the GB Challenger level players over the years though (Boggo, Parmar, Bloomers, Mackin, Aucks, etc), which made Jamie's win last year even more of a shock.

steven when you see sheddie dancing round in a tutu its time to wake up, untill then keep dreaming and lets hope the boys keep winning.

you can see match stats here

so sounds like boggo played great then. i was a bit down after his loss to anderson, lets hope that was a blip and he can keep this level up.
