Koellerer lost in the final qualifying round last year so lets hope for a repeat! Plays most of the time on clay but did play Wrexham last year where he beat Lee Childs in a final set tie-break.
Boggo v Legs (jb's nickname apartnetly) for the DC spot
Rd1: Jaime lays down a strong marker with a crunching 62 60 win over 9th seed, argualbly the best win of his career, and reports suggest the best tennis he has produced. Ball's definatly firmly in Boggo's court but he comes out all guns blazing and destroys former top 20 player and GS sefmifinalst Ginepri in a 63 61 display, commiting only 6 unforced errors. Boggo edges the rd on points due to experience of oppoennet
Rd2: Jamie again come out strong with a 64 76 win over Peya, again another win that must count as one of jamie's best. A really strong opening to the late starting match for the scot, and despite peya edging his way back in 'Legs' held firm to take the set. A closer 2nd set ensued, but jamie had enough there to take the TB and the match fairly comfortably.
We now have a break in play before seeing if Alex can respond in kind against his less experienced germa, opponent. Meanwhile Legs can sleep soundly, surely delighted with his start to the year.

Thanks for the DC analysis - very funny . Can I just clear something up....what exactly are they vying for? Surely there are two spots available on the team and there are two of them. Are they vying to be 'second singles player' and get to play a live rubber? Or have I missed something obvious?!

The four highest-ranked FQR losers are drawn at random (this is to deter the top-ranked player left in the draw from throwing his FQR match) and the remaining FQR losers (if there are more than 4 LL places) are ordered by ranking.
----------------------
Koellerer v Brits:
6-0 in the final set v Andy's new coach Miles McLagan in 2002
8-6 in the final set v big Arv in AO QR2 in 2005
7-6(4) in the final set v Lee Childs at Wrexham this time last year
He beat Oger 1 & 4 today and Ungur 0 & 4, so unfortunately he's in good form.

thanks Steven, that's what I thought it must be, just checking. I'm not sure I'd wnt that personally...of course it would be that much better if you managed to pull off the upset!

Is Numpty Nalby? If so, he pulled out of Kooyong and is doubtful for the AO, so he may be doubtful for the DC tie too! Not that it makes all that much difference, Argentina have so many good clay players.
I had to go out early this morning so have only just seen Jamie's result - woohoo! Well done, and good luck against Crazy Dani. Just ignore his antics.
1 thing to note is that playing a live rubber is quite lucrative financialy speaking compared to playing a dead one or just being a squad member and neither of these guys are big earners as suich so it can help fund the year.
