Andy beat DD in last years semi....DD played like a donkey....well maybe I should give Andy some credit....he got everything back...and DD netted when trying to keep up...more of the same please !

So this is the long awaited meeting between Davydenko and Andy, I'm guessing there'll be no love lost between the two on court tomorrow...should make for some great tennis

So long as Andy plays at or near his best I have no worries for him, in fact I see no reason for him not to get another bagel (when was the last time someone got a bagel in every round whilst winning a tournament?-anyone know?). I'm not really fussed though, so long as Andy wins

I watched the Daveydonkey match, and he really overpowered Tursunov. The amount of pace he creates on both wings is astonishing! but i hope crafty Murray make him pay at the net! So i think Murray will win in 3 sets, though ideally in straight sets!

Can someone who knows about these things please verify the what ifs for today's game regarding the Australian Open draw.

If Andy wins against ND - he moves to 11 in the rankings. Someone (sorry can't remember who) said that if Andy makes it to the top 12 he will avoid the top 4 seeds until the QF of the AO.

A tournament win can't improve his draw for the AO since 9 or 11 makes no difference (barring withdrawls) - is that right? Is it also correct to think that next week's results don't count for the AO seedings?

Now I'm confused!

Andy's current world ranking is eleventh. Someone e-mailed the BBC web site during his match against ToJo yesterday to say that, if he won that & went on to beat Davy-donkey in the SF, he would "leapfrog" Robredo to claim the N° 10 spot next Monday. According to the AO web site, the main draw will be released on Friday, 11th January, with play starting on Monday, 14th January, although the seeding lists won't be made public until Sunday, 13th January.

There aren't any ATP events next week (unless you count the AO qualies, that is! wink

), so there'll be nowt to be counted on the 14th itself. In any case, I believe Andy will again be playing in the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne, which starts on the 9th & is an invitation event for which no ranking points are at stake, so the top ranking positions will effectively go on hold from Monday 7th to Monday 28th January. Would it not be reasonable to assume, therefore, that a higher ranking for Andy will be actually be reflected in the AO seeding list & thus in the draw (even though the former will be announced after the latter...

)?

After this weeks results Andy will be ranked 13 (if he loses today), 11 (if he loses in the final) or 9 (if he wins the tournament). He cannot be ranked 10. These rankings will be official as of Monday and will be used for AO seedings. Next weeks events may changes the rankings as of the following monday but the AO draw will have taken place by then.

Andy needs to win this match, otherwise he will be seeded 13th at the Aussie Open, which will mean he will be due to meet 1-4 in the roundseedings in the 4th round. if he was seeded from 9-12, he would be due to meet 5-8 in the seedings in the 4th round. If that doesn't make sense please tell me!
