Week 1 - Challenger (100k+H) - Sao Paulo, Brazil (hard)

Jamie's 7th challenger level win in total [3 singles, 4 doubles]. Got to a load of other finals too.

Another point of note, is that Jamie's conqueror in final qualies round, who Jamie took to a third round tiebreak, has made the main draw singles final.

Report from someone who went on MTF.

To finish, doubles final between Soares/J.Delgado and Dabul/Zeballos. The match stoped at 6-1 5-3 for Soares/J.Delgado because of rain. I left the park but don't know wheter they finished the match or not. But this was a beautiful match to see, lots of good points and funny ones, too. Soares did the best point of the whole tournament: he defended an impossible smash of Dabul then, hit a forehand, went to the net and did an unbelivable volley to win the point. He was almost ovationated by the crowd. Also, 3 funny points happened: in the first one, Soares missed a serve return and hit Delgado's bald head but nothing serious happened; in the second, Dabul missed a ridiculous smash (the ball was going out for sure and he tried to win the point ); and the last one was the luckiest point ever: Delgado hit two straight balls in the net, in the same point; both felt in the Argies side and Soares/Delgado won the point.

Certainly seems like Jamie has started the season in incredible form. Hard to see him making the Davis Cup team but I certainly don't think it'd be a bad idea to have 2 double specialists in there. Would still have Andy and Boggo/Baker to play the singles, and even if you still went in intending to play Murray/Murray in the doubles, you would have options open in case of Andy enduring a long 5 set win on the first day or even picking up a minor injury that needs a day of rest. Basically, I don't see any reason to have Boggo AND Baker in the squad. Hard to see JL wanting either to play in the doubles.
