Rankings & stats updates

I've just caught up on the GB men's top 25 tables for December, but unfortunately (to cut a long technical story short) I can't post the full version on this site until the jonnymarray.net site is back up. (*)

In the meantime, however, you can follow through a limited version (top 500 plus the half dozen players who seem most likely to make it in the foreseeable future) at
http://members3.boardhost.com/rusedski/msg/1198802029.html.

I have also updated all my other GB men's and women's stats ('moves in 2007', 'career highs', etc) at
http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/tennis.shtml - they are now virtually year-end stats, though I will so another small update if a true year-end set of rankings is published on New Year's Eve.

(*) At the moment, my spreadsheet is set up to post the tables two ways - a limited version for the Rusedski site (which has a very low limit on the amount of html code allowed in a post) and a full version which is set up specifically to work on the Marray site. I then copy the actual table from the Marray site to BT.net and BTZ, which works fine. However, I can't post straight from my spreadsheet to BT.net or BTZ directly.

If for some reason the Marray site is down permanently (I hope not!), I'll put in the work needed to post direct from the spreadsheet to BT.net, but I can't afford to waste the time needed to do that while there's still a chance that the Marray site might be up again soon.

Btw, I think I was supposed to be moving the links on http://www.xlw93.dial.pipex.com/tennis.shtml to a new stats page on this site and someone was going to set up a template for it. I'll be happy to do that as soon as I know where to put it!

RE: Rankings & stats updates

Woo! Some decade old thread necromancy!
I didn't want to start a new thread - just to bother the ATP gang one time; this seems appropriately titled.

Jeff Sackmann's excellent TennisAbstract data is amazing. Here's some nonsense I created about GB ATP rankings over decades, for the GB mens top 10.
Thank you to Jeff for sharing his data publicly

ATP is hard - too many rows of data.

Wow, god stuff. Amazing thing is we are now spot on with the average over the relevant time period ranking wise.

Questions - the guys in the top tens listings best and worst, anyone know how many of them stayed or moved out of roles in tennis?

Fascinating stuff. Again! It is the antithesis of Vandy click bait. Who would have though that the 1/8/2005 will go down in the annals of British tennis as statistically British Men's tennis finest hour in terms of depth of British tennis. Obviously in this respect the outcome is really only as good as your worst player but not to gave a single player in the top 200 was some achievement making August 12 1991 quite memorable.

On a positive note some of the names in the middle of that best list have had significant impact, I think from a depth perspective was our finest hour which for me was last years 2017 Aussie open when Andy, Kyle and Evo were all playing well relative to their level at that time, Hilts and Jamie Delgado having played significant off court roles getting the 3 players in a position to perform.
