Junior player of the year: boys

OK, so here are the 6 nominations for that coveted title of britishtennis.net player of the year !

(1) Dan Evans:  Evans started the year in stunning form, making two G1 finals (taking the Asuncion Bowl title in Paraguay) and beating a string of the world's best juniors - Stephane Piro, Andrei Karatchenia (atp: 783). Made his first 15K quarters on grass in July and then reached quarters of US Open juniors, the first time a Brit had progressed that far in a junior slam since 2005

(2) Dan Cox:  Won U18 nationals without dropping a set, made three 15K quarters and beat several top 400 players on the way to finishing 2007 inside the top 1000 atp. Made semis of the Roehampton G1, the main warm-up before Wimbledon

(3) Graeme Dyce: First Brit to win a junior slam since Andy Murray 2004 when he took the Aussie Open doubles title. Gained his first atp pts in the summer...beating Simon Rea (atp 500)

(4) David Rice: Was briefly Britain's top junior in the summer after a strong run on South American clay earlier in the year, making the Uruguay Bowl final. He also made the semis of the presitigious Canadian Open G1, the main warm-up for the US Open. Despite hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons in September, Rice enjoyed a successful autumn, picking up several atp pts and beating British no 5 Josh Goodall.

(5) Marcus Willis: One of the fastest risers through the junior rankings in 2007, Willis won 3 titles on European clay in the summer and made rd3 of junior Wimbledon on the way to finishing the year ranked 57. Won a challenger match at November, to reach the verge of the top 1000 atp. Willis also picked up 3 doubles titles in the summer with Neil Pauffley including a G1

(6) Tim Hewitt:  Hewitt made big strides in the atp rankings this autumn, reaching the semis of a 15K, beating two top 350 players and picking up pts in several other futures. He finished in the atp top 1000. Gave Dan Cox his toughest challenge in the U18 nationals

I went for Evans, huge year for him in the seniors and juniors....really stepped up to become one of the best juniors in the world and he's still got a year to go in those tourneys....uso week was an amazing performance

Was tempting to go for Dycey but he's been injured for so most of the year I couldn't really pick him

Did you also not realise that winning in the final is better than losing in the quarters?

Everyone judges each event according to their own values. You clearly value a singles qf higher than a doubles title. I do not (though I admit it's close).

Well that told you Barnesy!! I agree with redcabbage!
Although my vote goes to Marcus "Meatball" Willis purely for the fact that there was much expected from Evo & he didn't quite deliver what he could have done, where as with Willis he has gone over & above what was expected of him, thats not to say that I think Evo underachieved or that Willis is a better player, I just think that Willis had a stand out year & thats why he gets my vote.
Although Im sure when we are doing these votes next year it will be even harder to predict a winner as I think we are going to have AT LEAST one grand slam winner in 2008.

Way to go to get support from the fans on here, Barnsey. Calling people "Dumb" will certainly have them supporting you in future.
