Anna Fitzpatrick and Anna Smith are in qualies which start on Monday

Anne K loses a big chunk of pts here after winning the title last year. I heard yesterday that she developed a rib injury in Australia which kept her out of all the 25Ks but its all fine now and she's training for new season

Anna F is top seed in qualies.

She's been top qualies seed a few times this year. Few more ranking points and she'll start to make more main draws.

Anna S is seeded 7. On paper both should qualify.


These Czech tournaments seem very slow in getting going.

Anna F won 6-4 6-2 vs a Slovak WC and faces 16th seed Hofmanova ranked 582 for a main draw place. smile.gif

Disappointing from Anna S on a fast court, she seems to blow very hot and cold..had that great run in September and we thought she'd be into top 400 by end of the year but has struggled since ?

Luckily Anna F didnt have to face Hofmanova (who's the junior no 4 !) but she did beat Frankovic 6-3, 6-4 and is in main draw

Monte-Carlo Academy Director of Coaching David Sammel, who is with the 18-year-old in Prerov, believes Annas hard work is paying dividends. We had an excellent week of practice in Roehampton last week and it was perfect that Anna was in qualifying as she needed to get match tight again, said Sammel.

Yesterday [against Jurikova] she started a little ropey but got better as the match progressed. Today she came out and eliminated the unnecessary errors and kept the pressure on throughout. Anna showed her class coming forward and the work done last week to help her read the net better is paying off.

Unfortunately Anna lost 4-6, 6-4, 6-2....bit of a missed opportunity tbh...not many better rd1 draws than that in 25Ks
