Kooyong classic 2008 - Jan 9th-12th

Andy will be appearing here again in the lead up to the Aussie Open.

Usual all-star cast list:

Roger Federer
Andy Roddick
David Nalbandian
Fernando Gonzalez
Tommy Haas
Ivan Ljubicic
Andy Murray
Marat Safin

There will probably be live streaming on one of the betting sites again...either bet365 or betfair..pretty good quality from what I remember

Roddick won this last year...beat Andy and then Federer in 3 in the final !

Federer totally hammered him though when it really mattered, 2 weeks later biggrin.gif Was strange as given the importance of the match and Roddick had just beaten him, in the AO semis Roddick was a patch of himself compared to his Kooyong form and appeared completely devoid of game plan.

Which 4 would we rather Andy had in his group ? I'd go for Roddick, Gonzo and Safin as a good draw

the group you suggest would be extremely fortunate. Ljubo would probably be good too...

Andy will probably be a bit weary after playing 5 days in a row this week, ending in that tiring final. I'll be quite happy if he just gets in some good practice against top players without worrying about the results. We want him fresh for the AO!

Yes, I was wondering whether it might be wise for him to pull out of this but then again, he's had 2 months off and there'll be 3 days rest before this starts, he should have plenty in the tank. Anyway, with this just being an exhibition most of the top players tend to play within themselves here.....Federer was certainly in 3rd gear last year, he got pummeled by a pumped-up Roddick in the final and then destroyed him just 10 days later when it mattered

Federer OUT! I think Davydenko replacing him. Federer got a stomach virus. I wonder if it will increase Murrays chances at the AO? Probably not.

Davydenko is replacing Haas who hasn't fully recovered from a shoulder injury. Replacement for Federer (stomach virus at the weekend) still being decided upon.

They spoke to Dee 1st, unfortuantly his apperance fee was too high. Fed was just the back up for him.

i have heard they are looking at one of the players who entered qualifying in New Calidonia after the impressive run through the qualies event to the main draw, wining a total of 13 points.

The replacement is Marcus Baghdatis. Andy is 4th match today and plays Marat Safin. Can't find any groupings but todays' order of play:

Wednesday January 9 - 4 matches from 11am

Davydenko v Baghdatis

followed by

Roddick v Ljubicic

followed by

Gonzalez v Nalbandian

followed by

Murray v Safin
