SF (1) Laura Robson d. Jacqueline Crawford 6-1;6-0
Laura is just a class above the girls in this field, not even come close to dropping a set yet !!!!!
Quite amazing, considering she'll still be an U14 come next year ! Jess Ren beat her in last year's Orange Bowl semis but since then she seems to have overtaken her by quite a bit....already dominating G4s
Hopefully next year she'll start to compete in a few ITF womens events and who knows, maybe follow Tara Moore and get in the points
Goldenslam, how do you rate Laura game-wise...do you think she has the power yet to compete with girls in 10K qualies ?
She does seem like a good prospect and looks like shes progressing well even for her age. Once the 1989ers are off the junior ranks she'll be top 300 which is amasing for a 13 year old.
If she manages to win this and then orange bowl in a couple of weeks things will look even rosier.
All i know about her game is that shes a lefty ( i think) and from interviews from Eddie Herr last year she likes to go for her shots. AT 12 though its hard to out punch someone like Jess Ren, now shes 13 alomst 14 shes getting stronger and her games bigger.
Extraordinary! Not just a tournament victory, but victory in a tournament where many of the competitors are a year older than her, and she completely breezed through every round.
