How to get an ATP ranking point when you're over 40

How do you get an ATP ranking point when you're over 40? Have a name that gets confused with someone else's, that's how!

I thought I must have got something wrong when the points for Josh Goodall on my GB top 25 table were 1 higher than his points on the new ATP ranking list ... then I noticed that a certain Jason Goodall (40 years old, career high 240 in 1989, now the BBC's 'Hawkeye' man) had suddenly re-entered the rankings! biggrin

I've written to the ATP about it, it'll be interesting to see if/how quickly they correct it.

Edit: It looks like even after correcting for this error, Josh will end up down 1 place despite adding a point - there must have been more points on offer than for the same week last year, because a lot of players inside the top 500 with unchanged points have moved down a handful of places and outside the top 500, the drop is more like 10-15 places.

The ATP lists do not inspire me with confidence. When checking my spreadsheet with the latest list I noticed a difference for Ivo Minar - the ATP have only awarded him 10 points for R16 for last week's challenger, according to the drawsheet he went out in the quarters, 23 points. I wonder how many mistakes are never corrected?

Wow, 13 points is pretty serious! I wonder how many of the players bother to check. (I realise even 1 point can be serious if it makes the difference between making a cut or not)

I would guess that most players outside the top 5 are completely obsessive about their rankings, and so check all the time.

The ATP have now corrected Josh's points total and position but, amusingly, have left Jason Goodall on the list in 1844th with no points. (that must mean that when you take into account all the players tied for 1475th, there are 1843 players on the rankings, I guess)
