Week 47- Mount Gambier- 25K

Am i right in saying here Georgie is the defending champion?

Katie will be again top seed.

Mel should be 6th seed.

Georgie is also in the main draw.

Qualifying draw.

Jade and Amanda look to qualify yet again, both are through to the final qualies round. Unfortunately Amanda has to play aussie Jessica Moore who is one of the best juniors in the world and recently just won a 25k and ranked 372 but will still be interesting to see how Amanda does against such class opposition.

Jade has a much easier final round match against Daniela scivetti who is unranked but she did beat the girl who beat Katie o'brien 2weeks ago in the previous round of qualifying hmm

Georgie was the defending champion in Nurioopta (they changed the order of the 25Ks this year). Katie lost to I-Hsuan Hwang 2 weeks ago having beaten Montinee Tangphong (the girl who lost to Scivetti) in the first round.

FINALLY Jade is drawn against a unseeded player....but it IS Pauline Wong who has a habit of beating Brits...

Come on Katie.
Top seed each week, so we want to see her win the thing.

Moore is a top junior and already played in 2 grand slams this year and she just won a 25k 2 weeks ago, results like this suggest she is on a par with jade as our top junior and on current form would probly beat jade imo. Great draw for Amanda aswell and not forgetting Jade qualifying yet again and a good chance against Wong.

Round 1

Katie O'brien def. l'hsuan hwang 4-6 6-2 7-6(2) smile

Pauline Wong def. Jade Curtis 5-7 6-4 7-6(8) furiousfuriousfurious

Isabella Holland def. Amanda Elliot 6-3 3-6 6-3 furious

Georgie Stoop def. Natalie Grandin 6-2 2-6 7-5 smile

Melanie South def. Natalie piquion 6-1 6-4 smile

Gutted about Jade's loss, so so close she probly would have had match points still although she lost a terrific performance from her and i think she is gradually getting more used to challenger level. Shocked from Amanda's results she was playing a talanted junior but after her qualifying results i would of expected her to win comfortabely.

Good close wins for Katie and Georgie and easy win for Mel.

Great effort by Jade. She lost by 1 and 0 the last time she played Wong.

Real pity Jade couldn't make the next round but as Arka said it was a really good effort. Jade seems to be performing really well, always finding her way through qualifying and beating people ranked above her. Next year could be a real breakthrough year, hopefully it won't be too long before she is making the main draws of these type of events.

Katie O'BRIEN (GBR) (1) Vs Aleksandra SRNDOVIC (SWE)
Georgie STOOP (GBR) Vs Arina RODIONOVA (RUS)
Melanie SOUTH (GBR) (7) Vs Daniella DOMINIKOVIC (AUS)

Katie and Mel have opponents who have defeated Sarah Borwell in recent weeks, so they should not be underestimated.
