A better chance would have been in Malysia where he would have been seeded 3 in qualies as well, where 3 of 8 seeds were unranked, where it would have been 2 unranked players to make the main draw for 3 points and a great chacne to go further.
LTA site mentions British men in Malaysia next week. I hope its more than just in doubles.
Myles Blake [667] vs. Dayne Kelly [1028] of Australia
The draw isn't as easy as it seems. Kelly is only 17 and beat Klein five weeks ago, plus took quite a few games off Lindahl and Alun Jones earlier this year. He lost to Myles in straights last month, so that should give him (Myles, that is) some extra confidence.
Crazy that people go off on the safari to pick up relatively easy points then miss the Malaysia trick. No doubt lots of people will have cottoned on by next year and it won't be quite as easy.
Anyway, good news from Caloundra qualifying: [removed since I was a minute too late! - however the player Myles beat in QR1 was WR 1036 not unranked]

Myles won by 2 & 3 and then drew Andrew Thomas of Australia.
What a chance! Andrew is a 17 year old ranked 1461 and often struggles in Futures qualies even though he was best in his age group three years ago. Pauffley beat him in straights earlier this year.
