Probably the person who wrote this meant that he was the second highest ranked 18 and under Brit in the world. That would be correct as Coxy had temporarily dropped to the late 1200s and Hewitt was ranked in the 900s, I think.
Anyways, it's a strange way to construct a sentence.
Ed Seator won todays first round, little hiccup but though no the less
EZZ, Mahmoud (EGY) lost to 4-6,6-1, 6-4 SEATOR, Edward (GBR) 5
1st round complete, heres Round 2, toughy for the Brits.
1 MIDDELKOOP, Matwe (NED, WR328) v FEAVER, Q James (WR1461) BAINS, Maniel (WR1180) v 8 ABOU EL KHAIR, Motaz (EGY, WR811) MARQUES, Frederico (POR, WR1161) v 5 SEATOR, Edward (WR577) Q MUZALEWSKI, Krzystof (POL, UNR) v BREWER, David (WR1135) 6 SABECKIS, Gvidas (LTU, WR701) v LL LEVI, Benjamin George (UNR)
In terms of ranking only Brewer and Seator should win tomorrow, but I think Bains and Levi have relatively good chances, so hopefully one of them (I'd prefer two!) can find the win.
Feaver, I would LOVE to shock me as he did last week, but Middelkoop is in a different league to Seator so I highly doubt it'll happen

M Middelkoop (1) bt J Feaver 6-4 6-0 M Abou El Khair (8) bt M Bains 6-3 0-6 6-1 (strange score in 2nd and 3rd sets there) E Seator (5) bt F Marques 6-3 4-6 6-2 D Brewer bt K Muzalewski 6-4 6-2 G Sabeckis (6) bt B Levi 6-2 7-6 (5)
Some good fights there, especially bains, but it was likely we would only see two get into the quarters. Seator is making hard work of it but at least he's in the quarters again! I would have like to see Feaver do a bit better in the second set but Middelkoop is a class or three above at the minute.
BGL has matured a lot in the last few months. He is very young - born in 1990.
really, wow! I'm even more impressed then. I'd got it into my head that he was one on the 30 something playing for fun every now and then coaches (no idea how.)
So only the two how should have made it on rankings did so, but that's still not a bad day, in my book. And well done to Seator and Brewer for not slipping up.
Shame about Feaver but it was always going to be too big an ask at the moment, if we're honest. Likewise with Levi and Bains, though Bains seems to have given it a good go.
