I must admit, my theory was Booty that got annoyed about "Shagger" being more interested in the local women at each tournament than in training (not that this was necessarily true, but they sometimes gave that impression!) and wanted him to work harder and that's how the rot set in.
Neil has a much more plausible explanation for the split and Jamie's drift since.
Murray accepts that his head may have been turned too quickly when the decision was taken to split with Butorac. He was being wooed by those doubles stalwarts who did not come through for him. He had convinced himself that Leander Paes, the Indian, was going to join forces and you can tell how much it hurt that the deal foundered because Jamie does not get upset and yet he said: He messed me around, he messed me around a lot.
The upshot is that he will join Kevin Ullyett, the experienced Zimbabwean, for the run-up to the Australian Open and the championship itself, but as of today that is as far as it goes.
