No it won't ... it's one of the optional sports and they haven't chosen it, even though it will be part of New Delhi 2010.

I didn't know tennis was even an optional sport, good news it will be happening next time round, even though Murrayx2 will be competing for Scotland grr. Bit stupid that the Scots didn't pick tennis when they have on of the best players in the world, who will be still around in 2014.

I'm glad that they have tennis at Delhi. David will now be convinced that they courts aren't made of dung.

I hope that the Beeb show coverage of the Dehli courts being "constructed and smoothed down" biggrin.gifwink.gif I hear that this generally takes place the night before the tournament begins so there's a good chance

I thought that because tennis was chosen for Delhi it would then be in the commonwealth games for definate....why on earth is it among the optional sports..it's probably the biggest sport, fan-wise in the entire games !

What are the other optionals ? Seems very bizarre that Glasgow didnt choose it given that Andy would have been almost a shoe-in for the singles gold and Jamie would have had a great shot in the doubles

come to that...why didnt Manchester choose it in 2002 with Henman in the top 4 at the time !

Cricket must be one of the optionals. I remember watching it in 1998.

I seem to remember ten-pin bowling was in Kuala Lumpar when it was held there.

It should be good for Glasgow. But if it happens during the same period as the Edinburgh Festival and Military Tattoo, the rest of the UK will be empty!

Doubt it seeing as it would surely have to be a worldwide event to count.

Yeah it can't be a ranking event....it will be like olympic tennis so singles and doubles events and medals up for grabs.....

Andy should be singles favourite with Hewitt his only real challenger unless some new tennis god emerges from Australia, India or Canada in the next few yrs

It's pretty much the same for the doubles

Was ten-pin bowling seriously held in KL 98 ! laughing.gif What were the rules ? or do you mean normal bowls ?

must be one of the few "sports", along with darts, where you can pull a few pints and compete at the same time !

There we go... ten pin bowling in the commonwealth games... what an event that must have been!

The current core sports consist of athletics, aquatics (swimming, diving and synchronised swimming), lawn bowls, netball (for women) and rugby sevens (for men). These will all remain core sports until at least the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The approved list of sports also includes archery, badminton, billiards and snooker, boxing, canoeing, cycling, fencing, gymnastics, judo, rowing, shooting, squash, table tennis, tennis, tenpin bowling, triathlon, weightlifting, wrestling and sailing. Some of these are often included in the programme, while others, like billiards and sailing, have not yet been approved.

And also on the list of sports that have not been included yet is lifesaving confused
