Glad he did it! He certainly showed some bottle and held his nerve after losing the second set. A close one until the third, but at last one that has gone our way. Fingers crossed for the final.
Let's not forget as well that Ken only got his first ranking point on 9th July. Now he will get into Futures directly, and challenger quallies, meaning less matches to gain a point. In 4 months he's gone from no ranking to top 700
If Ken can keep the ball in play and keep Mannarino moving then I think he can win it. As I said before I saw Mannarino getting beat by Decoud in Edinburgh this year and the guy loves going for his shots....but Decoud kept the ball in play with some power and the young guy kept making the errors.
and welcome to the forum DJ....fantastic first post...great insight !!!
I totally agree with you about Josh...it's not the first time he's just combusted on court and thrown a match away....it's happened several times this year. Peter Lundgren was saying at the Cardiff challenger that he gets on top of himself far too much when he's not on top form. In that tourney...Josh played Simon Stadler (a seed in rd1)...it was quite close till 4-4 in the 1st set when Josh lost his serve through some silly errors but then completely lost it and didn't win another game.
It's really an issue he has to sort out if he's going to reach top 100 singles....he's a player who has bags of talent but the mental approach isnt right. Should have been in the final this week
He's not at all like that off court though, he's a popular guy....not with umpires though, he admits that there's only 1 in Britain whom he gets on with
