It would have been good for the LTA to list each players/teams achievments next to their name, so we could have easily reffered to what they have done this year.
and btw we will have our own britishtennis.net polls at the start of December
Some no-brainers there like Andy for male player of the year and the DC team for team of the year
Female player of the year is a tough one between Anne and Katie....personally my vote goes to Anne (just) because she's achieved more - first WTA semi by a Brit for nearly 15 years was an astounding achievement particularly abroad in a tough place to play...plus those big weeks in North America challengers in the summer
Junior player of the year goes to Cox imo....national U18 champion, plus top 1000 already and 2 15K quarters...also you have to consider some of the players he's beaten in those futures ! No idea why Chaudry is the 3rd nomination though ???
Has to be Fitzy for the girls but why isn't Jade there after the results she's had !!! And why are both the Rens there again ??
The fact Tim Henman is nominated for best mens player when he didn't win 2 matches in a row all year shows what a bad year it has been for the Brits after the Murray's. Boggo struggled with injury, Goodall and Bloomers have goen down the rankings, and Baker and Auckland didn't capatilise on a great start to the year
lol, it is looking a little desperate atm....hope that some of the current 500-700 crop can make a breakthrough in the next 6 months. Kasiri has worked his way up from 1500 to 564 this year and Ward has also made a big jump, Slabba has had the big runs in futures so we know he can do it at this level now
Focusing on the positives though....its been a great year with the doubles players....4 in the top 100 at one stage, Jamie Delgado is not far off getting back in too. Just look at the number of futures titles and finals GB players have made, virtually one every week !
Henman's obviously in the poll for sentiment but I'd have rather Auckland or Hutchins be nominated....I mean both have made ATP finals this year !
Has to be Fitzy for the girls but why isn't Jade there after the results she's had !!! And why are both the Rens there again ??
I don't agree with Fitzpatrick being nominated. She has done something big in just tournament all year long and even then it's nothing big because girls aren't supposed to play ITFs in their 18th year.
Jessica won the Jr. Orange Bowl after last year's nominations were announced, plus has done a lot else. Jennifer hasn't done too badly either and has taken her ranking to inside the 450 after starting the year without one, plus has taken a singles and a doubles title. There's no one else to nominate - either they haven't done enough, or they have played very little (like Tara or Heather).
