The match is scheduled 9pm tomorrow night - 8pm GMT
That's a relief. I'm out all day tomorrow so was dreading it being another morning match. I've badminton in the evening but should be back just after eight for the showdown. Andy's now on 351 points - a win against Gasquet...
i think since the surface is on carpet, it may favour andy more because despite losing the toronto final, i think gasquet's backhand during that match was difficult was murray to handle. being on an indoor carpet, it will favour murray because of his low slice backhand approach towards the net. soooo i think murray will edge it in 3.
From the ATP site (manages to contradict itself where Haas is concerned!). All very complicated:
Murray, Robredo turn up heat on Shanghai rivals
Andy Murray has set up a crucial quarter-final showdown in Paris with Richard Gasquet that could ultimately determine which player claims a spot at Tennis Masters Cup Shanghai. On Thursday Murray defeated Fabrice Santoro to move into the last eight of the BNP Paribas Masters. The 20-year-old Scot has moved to ninth in the ATP Race, but could be overtaken later today by Tommy Haas.
Spaniard Tommy Robredo moved into eighth position by defeating Shanghai rival Guillermo Cañas. Robredo could also be overtaken by Haas, who plays the last match of the day against Russian Mikhail Youzhny.
James Blake, the 2006 Shanghai finalist, will not be returning to the Tennis Masters Cup after losing to Gasquet in straight sets on Thursday. Tomas Berdych was also eliminated from the Shanghai Race when beaten by David Ferrer, who has already booked his berth. Tommy Haas, who entered the week at No. 8 in the standings, failed to hold onto the final position as he faltered against fellow Shanghai hopeful Mikhail Youzhny.
Even if he wins the title, 2005 Masters Cup champion David Nalbandian can no longer qualify for Shanghai because it is now certain that either Murray, or Gasquet will reach the semi-finals. On Thursday Nalbandian reached the quarter-finals after defeating Roger Federer.
Not quite that straight forward as Baggy or Youzhny could still overtake
True, had forgotten about that, but if he beats Gasquet, Baggy or Youzny have to get to the final to overtake him, so he would be in a very strong postiton, especially with Rafa sitting in that other half of the draw.
god andy v gasquet is gonna be such a big match with the crowd totally against andy! im getting nervous! its a strong possibility that they both wont play too well though as so much is at stake. it could be a shocker! last time they played i remember andy played pretty badly but was also tired. would love andy to win but i think his great run may be over tonight as i think gasquet has the game to drive him mad. plus he has the crowd to contend with.
what are the best tactics against gasquet do u reckon?
