Week 44 - Challenger (50K+H) - Louisville, USA

Oudsema def. Russell 4-6, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5)

Lets hope he is tired after those 3 sets and two TB's and not too buoyed up for the doubles later.

Just realised Rich has already beaten him in singles this year, can he make it a double in these doubles?

I think that Bloomers has withdrawn. He needs to play qualies at Nashville.

I think you're right but dont quite understand why. I know players in doubles are not entitled to SE places but Richard was 2nd alt with 2 SE's to fall off so I don't know who got the SE's allocated. Looks like his bad luck continues.

I don't know if they have withdrawn. Bloomers is down to play both his matches in qualies for the other challenger today, maybe he could nip back to here and play the doubles final on Sunday? Anyone know the distance between the two?

Scratch that he has to win 3 matches to qualify. So maybe if he loses one of the 2 today he will play doubles on Sunday?

About 170 miles, apparently, so feasible, I'd have thought, if playing times permit...  Will Ryderstedt be playing qualies there, too?  I noticed his name on the Alternates list.  Lady Luck really isn't smiling on our boys at the moment, is she? cry

For those who are interested, the other Brit still in contention in the doubles, the Baker boy, is due on court with Alex Kuznetsov for their SF against Isner & Parrott, the fourth seeds & the only ones left in the draw (!), last this evening, with play in the first of the two singles SFs which precede it kicking off at 22.00 GMT... please.gif

Ryderstedt just snuck into Nashville main draw so doesnt need qualies.
Brian Wilson (latest 1st Alt) isn't in qualies so presumedly has one of the closed SE's which would have made Rich next to get one, so maybe the other SE has been kept open for USA player, who knows? It does seem tough luck though - so close furious

Makes you realise why some players avoid doubles, they can really mess up the singles game.

Maybe one of the guys playing at Busan wants an SE? There's no Challenger in Asia next week, so they are allowed to.
