Speaking of dodgy betting paterns, the Pashanski-Tursonov match is another one that has attracted attention. The Betfair forum have been up in arms throughout today. Tursonov was down a set and a break and his price was shorter than it was at the start of the match.
After the match, with lots of people crying foul, all the match threads and other threads alleging the match was a fix were deleted and Betfair settled the match immediately.
Quite a worrying development. If Betfair were keen on tackling things properly they would have dealt with this in the same way as the Davydenko match. ie void the market and report to authorities. I fear that all the negative publicity that their actions generated and the criticism they attracted, Betfair will now shy away from the responsibility of dealing with these suspicious matches properly.

Do you think if Davydonkey gets beat 6-1 5-7 0-6 they will suspect him of throwing the match
Good question, Drew - & almost spot-on with the score (6-1 5-7 1-6)! He'll no doubt say he was simply beaten by the better man, but tongues will probably still wag...! What a comeback from Cilic! Andy is now the highest seed left in the draw, so an excellent opportunity to claim his second ATP title of the year, but almost inevitably, he seems to be having a bit of a wobble ATM...

From the BBC report on Andy's match (referring to Davydenko's match):
But there was some potential controversy brewing after that particular match.
Daydenko said he was warned for not playing hard enough against the world number 102 by the chair umpire on Thursday.
"When I made a double fault, he gave me a notice for a wrong behavior on the court as if I was throwing the match," Davydenko said.
The ATP is currently investigating a match in Poland in which online gambling site Betfair voided bets on a match involving the Russian because of irregular betting patterns.
Davydenko got fined for an apparent lack of effort. I love it.
By the way, how can the ATP fine someone for not trying hard enough? Surely in an individual sport anyone can do what they like as long as it isn't illegal? This is quite dumb in my opinion.

I'd have tipped Gulbis to go through in the top half of the draw, too, though with a warning not to underestimate Cilic, & in fact, Cilic has taken the first set 6-4 & just gone 2-0 up in the second, so we may both have got it badly wrong...! Still time, though!

4 & 4 to Cilic! Maybe Verdasco can see him off in tomorrow's SF...

You would think so with a ranking of 30 to 102! But then again Davy-cry- baby is ranked 4. It's been a strange top-half draw as far a results have gone. The bottom half has been far more as expected with the second and third seeds about to do battle tomorrow.
