Week 43 - Futures F1 (10k) - Islamabad, Pakistan

Well done Fitzy on getting a ranking point, which I suppose must have been the first aim of the tour.

Good luck in the next round, and hopefully you can beat Leonte and make the QF's.

Keep us up to date with your progress as well, and we will keep on supporting you here and cheering you on to bigger things

Nice one Fitzy! That blog was just perfect! Good on you for digging in against the moonballer.

Nothing to lose in the next round. Go for it!

Congrats Fitzy. Made up (as they say in Liverpool) at your first ranking points.

Good to see you positive about tomorrow, and best of luck. All is possible!

Thanks will just have a swing today and see how things go. My thinking is i have got nothing to loose and im going to try to make him run and move as he is a big lad.
Its about 35 everyday but feels hotter than that.Certainly hot enough for me!
though in india it was 50, thats just silly heat.

My match is at 11.00 local time so will let you know how i do, though u will probably hear before i tell you!!smilesmile

yes i know i figured that i should test myself in the toughest conditions. Though the standard may be a little weaker than england, the conditions even it up!
News on today, i lost 6-4 6-3, the guy was good. He had a rocket of a first serve and wasnt to bad from the back, i tried to get him moving and was serving well myself, but didnt take my chances that i had.
He was 6'10 and i was hitting everything head height because the crushed brick is so bouncy!
On to lahore thursday, and hopefully qualify and get some more points on the board there.
Shame the tournament didnt tell me that the doubles sign in was saturday instead of sunday/monday so i missed it for this week.cry

That's quite impressive against your first ever top 600 player!

You were quite unlucky to be playing Leonte given that all the players other than the top three seeds were ranked below 1300, but that's life. Good luck in Lahore!

Indeed. And now a player with a WR. Enjoy Lahore and stay safe!

Well done Andrew. Hope you can get another point in Lahore. Would make the trip greatly worthwhile and hopefully launch you on to better things in the home Futures with the seedings you'll get in qualies.

Looks like you put up a good performance today Fitzy, as losing 4 and 3 to a top 600 player is a good effort, and hopefully gives you some experience of what you need to do to beat these players

Good luck in your next futures, and hopefully there will be another point to come (and hopefully a doubles point as well), which would be another good boost for you

What's your game like on grass Fitzy?

Good luck in singles and doubles next week. Never forget the week that got you an ATP world ranking!

I hope you made enough prize money for your fuel!

Do you have sore shoulders from playing so many high balls?

Thanks, to be honest we had a long game at 3-3 in the first set where i was 40-15 up on his serve and had chances, but  o well.
Well my game is quite good on grass, because i have good timing and can generate alot of power, but the thing that would let me down is not concertrating and going to the winner to eirly.
Shoulders are fine, but bit of a difference from hitting everything high, to everything low.
Apparently the grass is shocking aswell.
Kyle brassington is coming out to these two grass weeks, just to let you know.
Yer i made 200 dollars, should cover it and a few nights in a hotel in lahore.smilesmile
Im not complaining, i will take anything i get.
