Week 43 - Futures F1 (10k) - Islamabad, Pakistan

Tournament Key : M-FU-PAK-01A-2007
Dates : 22 Oct to 28 Oct 2007
Venue : Islamabad, Pakistan
Surface : Clay

Only 1 Brit here....and what a stoke of luck for Andrew Fitzpatrick !!

Only 24 in the Qualy draw...so all got QR1 bye.

QR2 :

FITZPATRICK, Andrew (GBR)  def RAZA, Syed Abbas (PAK) 6-0 6-0

15 Qualifiers made the Main Draw...yes 15 !!!!!

and that does not include the 2 LL and the 4 WC into the MD.

So add the 11 players in the MD by right...and you get a 32 draw.

This must be the most ridiculous draw ever !!!

So....

MD1 :

FITZPATRICK, Andrew (GBR) v ISAEV, Artem (RUS)

ISAEV is one of the DA players WR1474 with a 1/9 win loss record for the year so a good chance for his first WR point.

Great opportunity for Andrew!

I guess that the field's so weak because of the recent events in Pakistan.

Just had a look at the qualifying draw, and 7 players qualified by facing bye and then followed by bye, plus there was 1 walkover as well... this has to be the weakest event ever

laughing.gif Have all tennis players decided to take a holiday this week or something? Well, I hope Fitzpatrick can make the most of it, given the entrants it's a pretty bad draw!!! but just think of the opportunities if he gets past the guy! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Seriously though, I think I'd probably choose not to go to Pakistan right now even for such an easy draw, I hope the tournament and players/coaches etc are all unaffected by whats going on.

This is the apparent lone brit himself, thought i would let you know with all whats going on with bombs ect... that i guess thats the reason little players have come to this tournament.
I play my first round tomorrow not before 3.00 local time.
And in reply to my trying to aviod getting blown up, yes we are on strict orders and rules out here.

Wish me lucksmilesmile

No problem. thankssmile... oh and by the way, The Itf saying its clay is a compliment, its crushed brick, which makes the court black/grey, with ermm intresting bounces!

Haha, at least it's better than the cow dung courts.

So how long a trip will this be? Just the three back to back Futures in Pakistan? Or will you spend some more time in Asia?

Hey Fitzy. Welcome. All the best on the crushed brick. Wear your ankle straps if you have them!

well i beg to differ, some shots bounce and spin and hit u in the face!
Im going to be doing 2 or 3 weeks not sure at the moment depends on how it goes.
I would love to stay on and do more but struggling to pay my petrol at the moment let alone flights!
In reply to the ankle supports i kind of wish i did have them, as there is no sliding going on, on this surface, it would be game over if you did.

Next two are on grass.

These days you have grass Futures only in GBR, Australia, India and Pakistan. cry.gif
