Week 42 - Womens ITF (25k) - Glasgow, Great Britain

rankings projection....if Katie wins the title she'll be about 133 I think

She had a great win this afternoon over Kvitova 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 !!! clap.gif

Now faces 2nd seed Sofia Arvidsson

Arvidsson is 22, ranked 127....she's been up and down the top 100 like a yo-yo in the past couple of years, hit a career best of no 29 in May 2006 so she had some pedigree ! Very much on form atm, won a 50K indoors last week without dropping a set, her 3rd title of the year, the other two were on clay and US hard. She's also made two WTA quarters in Estoril and Memphis. However, this afternoon she only just sneaked past Johanna Larsson 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 which shows how underanked Larsson is.

Well done Katie! Last week was her first semi of the year. This week her first final - so good omens for next week in Istanbul if she doesn't upset Arvidsson tomorrow.

Great to see the Brit girls really doing well.
Things are looking very positive.
Could be a breakthrough year in 2008
for some to reach top 100 or am I wishful thinking?

No i agree with you. Its just seems like thed end of 2007 is the warm-up for the big one in 2008. When Anne, Katie, Bally and Naomi all have a shot at making the top 100.

definately, it's going to be a very exciting 2008....Anne and Katie are both aiming for top 100 (and Aussie Open DAs) by the end of the season....such a shame that Anne keeps getting injured but there's still quite a few tourneys left so who knows ! At the least both of them will probably get good seedings for the qualies

Istanbul it is then!!!!!

Arvidsson was always gonna be tough. She was in WTA finals last year wasn't she?

British women's tennis is in a much better place than the men's game! Exciting...

shame but expected....Arvidsson is a seriously tough player, she's won 3-4 challengers this year with relative ease plus made an impact in some WTAs
