i dont think the birthplace stuff came into it either.
From what i could gather Bates couldnt deicde if he defiantly wanted Alex in the team, (he had dropped him from the previous tie in ukraine remember) and Alex couldnt wait any longer as he had to enter his events for that time (as u have to enter 6 weeks in advance or so)
Of course with murray getting ill right b4 the tie Alex would have probably played in stead of big arv's, but at the time he would have thought he would have just been bench warming with andy and greg in the team.
Llody comments before the croatia tie indicate he wants boggo as part of the side and didnt pick him due to his injury, i dont think this latest articles contian any quotes about the team from JL so i guess we will have to wait to see and look how the players are shaping up at the start of the year

The choice seems to rest between Jamie Baker who played in Sundays dead rubbers and Alex Bogdanovic. And Lloyd has been heartened by the performance of Bogdanovic in this weeks Grenoble Challenger where on Thursday he beat the Luxembourg No.1 Gilles Muller.
"Alex has had an up and down year and obviously there have been a few problems with injuries and other matters but I think he benefited from being part of things last weekend and practising with the guys, said Lloyd.
I think seeing how the crowd really got behind us made him want to push his claims forward again and Im hoping that has translated into his performance in Grenoble."
obviuosly lloyd jinxed him as he lost next match :(
