11am in Tashkent is 7am in the UK. Yakimova has been as high as 49 last year, but has had a lean time recently.
Katie and AA won their doubles quarter-final when Schruff retired with an abdominal strain, so she becomes the first Brit into a WTA doubles semi-final this year.
On Betfair the odds are suspended but it did end with Katie at slightly longer odds. From looking at the odds I think she lost in 2 sets but fingers crossed I'm wrong
Even though it is still saying the match is suspended, on the Live Stats and Scores it is saying Katie won the first set 6-3, but lost the second 3-6. She appears to be 0-1 down in the 3rd, but all betting is suspended again. Surely a rain delay wouldnt block betting?
"I'm really happy to be in my first WTA Tour quarter-final," the world number 141 O'Brien said.
"It was a tough match today, but overall I was pleased with my performance, although there were a few tentative moments in the second set.
O'Brien, who reached a career-high ranking of 121 in the world in July, says she felt in control of the match throughout the opening set.
"I had game points in 11 of the first 12 games, so I felt very much in control. I was being patient, and waiting for my opportunities to attack," the Yorkshire native said.
"From 1-1 in the second set, there were 10 consecutive breaks of serve - I just couldn't consolidate the break.
"I had a match point at 6-5, but despite losing this, I kept my composure and played a great tie-break.
"I'm treating every win here as a bonus, as I didn't expect to make the main draw. In fact, I'm lucky to be here as I had real problems getting a flight out here.
"In the end, I flew business class, so maybe I should consider travelling this way more often.
O'Brien is also competing in the doubles draw where she and Uzbekistani partner Akgul Amanmuradova will face Belarusian pair Ekaterina Dzehalevich and Yakimova in the semi-finals.
"I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's matches in singles and doubles. I have nothing to lose, but hopefully I can make something happen and continue my progress."
