Congratulations to Elena - a real battle. Great to see her back winning these matches. Strange scoreboard at the end showing Elena beating someone else 6-1 6-0.

Ha, ha - assumed you'd beat me to it again.  Elena won 6-4 final set.

It went from 30-0 to showing the result of her previous match, but hopefully that means she has won! smile.gif

If so, possible draws are (4) Ai Sugiyama (JPN) WR 37 on home soil (eek!), Zi Yan (CHN) WR 66 or a 50/50 chance of being in a Q v Q match, I know which I'd prefer!

Shame Sarah couldn't quite make it but Yuan wasn't third seed for nothing.

Really great to see Elena tough it out and come through. Hopefully she gets a kind draw, when we the qualifiers be placed?

Zi Yan is a doubles specialist, winning both the Australian Open and Wimbledon with Jie Zheng last year. However she can also play singles, having reached the semis of the Tier 1 tournament in Toronto this year as a qualifier beating both Ana Ivanovic and Marion Bartoli.

Bally often struggles to recover quickly from hard matches thanks to her illness - hope that does not prove to be a factor tomorrow. The match should start around 9am BST I estimate.
