Brilliant stuff biggrin

The Argentinians have played 44 singles DC matches at home this century, their record is 42-2 and the two are Ivan Ljubicic in 2002 and Jamie Baker in 2008. biggrin

What an interesting match - a remarkable illustration of that old saying that "the race is not always to the swift."

Is it just me or did anyone else think that the BBC commentators (Castle & Bradnam??) were lazy and useless.

From not bothering to learn how to pronounce "Calleri" (it's Cay-eri), to endless idiotic wittering about their days in Davis Cup and "Scottish players we have known", to a complete lack of any analysis of how a journeyman was managing to beat someone who was clearly miles better than him, they were utterly pathetic.

Guys, listen to Jonny Mac and try to copy him - yes he talks too much for British tastes, but everything he says illuminates the match for the viewer.

And bloody hell - how many freeloaders did the LTA take on this trip - there seemed to be hundreds of them!!!

I couldn't agree more Ratty. The more I listen to A Castle the more irritated I become with him. He sounds so condescending and smarmy. But, let's not let that spoil a great win and effort from Jamie B. clap.gif I hope he goes on from here and builds on what he has achieved. He gave a good interview after the match ( even if we didn't catch all of it.)

I am usually very critical of the LTA but on this occasion I particularly thought how few  there were -Squad of 4 plus Richard, Captain - JL, Doubles coach - Louis Cayer, DC  coach - Peter  Lundgren, fitness coach - ? (2 Officials - ? Smith, Roger Draper - not there today I think) - You didnt include the security guys did you? Also mentioned was some old guy from Derby but I'm not sure he was part of the team and afterall  they wouldn't let Head of men's tennis Paul Hutchins go. {If my son was playing I would have paid my own way to be there}

I saw some of it yesterday, didn't Baker look at home on the clay? Dead rubber or not Calleri would have been embarrassed to lose in front of that crowd, so something really positive to take from the weekend. Bogdanovic probably looks the more capable player against top opposition out of the two Brits but my, doesn't he clam up on the big points. He has to sort that out or else it's never going to happen or him. His backhand is something to behold but it's all for nothing if he keeps going to pieces at the business end of a set. It's easy for us to all say this and we're not pro players but...it's true isn't it. He needs to believe he belongs at the top tier, maybe become a bit more arrogant.

Yes, it's true. Let's hope that when Brad finally deigns to start working with him, he can at least bring about some improvement in that area of Boggo's game.
