RE: Davis Cup: World Group Round 1 - Argentina v GB

acasuso ans calleri to play the deads, tbh cant see any wins there. if calleri plays the same level he did vs alex then jamie wont trouble him and Aca bt alex indoor last year so on clay it should be the same.

World Group playoff - possible opponents

Obviously the rankings will change between now and the WGPO draw, but as things stand at the moment ...

6 WG R1 losers are ranked above us:

RUS or SRB (1 or 15)
BEL (11)
SWE or ISR (7 or 17)
KOR or GER (13 or 5)
PER (18)
ROM (14)

1 WG R1 loser is ranked below us:

AUT (21)

5 zonal playoffs involve one team ranked higher than us:

GEO v SVK (33 or 8)
BLR v SUI (12 or 25)
CRO v ITA (4 or 28)
CHI v CAN (19 or 31)
AUS v THA (10 or 26)

3 zonal playoffs involve two teams ranked lower than us:

NED v MKD (22 or 35)
BRA v URU/COL (24 or 38/34)
IND v JPN (29 or 23)

Given the above and that teams winning through the zonal playoffs are likely to improve their rankings thanks to the extra points they'll get for winning the relevant matches, it seems very likely that we'll be unseeded and hence up against one of the following teams, if all of the relevant ties still to be decided go with who's leading at the moment or (if to be played in April) with seeding:

CRO (4) away
SWE (7) away
SVK (8) home
AUS (10) home
BEL (11) home
BLR (12) by lot
KOR (13) by lot
ROM (14) away

.. or, if SWE recover to beat ISR, maybe:

SRB (15) away

Lots can happen to the rankings and who ends up in the WGPO draw between now and April, but I'll try and update this as new rankings/results are published so we can see how things are going.

Day 3 :Sunday 10th February 13:00-end of play GMT LIVE
Comment : All play will be live on BBC Interactive when not on BBC2

Despite this BBC comment I dont believe dead rubbers will be shown , in fact according to DC website it seems live scores are not available either - anyone know different?

After yesterdays doubles coverage Sue Barker [I think..] said that today's coverage would be shown in full on interactive.

She did, but from past experience she could well be wrong. I have never known them show dead rubbers.

In fact, I thought she said the rest of the doubles after the rain delay would be on BBCi but I couldn't find it! Admittedly I didn't try very hard as I was trying to sort out internet troubles at the same time.

It was on freeview channel 302 after the rain break. They showed the Baker - Cilic dead rubber against Croatia on the website, so maybe they will do that.

You can see it online too, and live scores are working.

Nice start from Boggo, but why does he always save himself for the dead rubbers?!

Acacuso takes set 7-5. Difference - Acacuso has got a big serve - Boggo doesn't.
