Gutted he lost...

Though if he can keep reaching quarters and semis consistently he'll hit that top 500 soon enough.

From eavesdropping at Queens I get the impression the LTA are very impressed with Ward, they saw a lot of potential and liked his hard work ethic. Paul Hutchins was particularly impressed after his match with Dusan Vemic.

It should be great for James to get the backing of the LTA. Hopefully he gets 2 or 3 challenger wildcards early next year and pushes up to that level.

Is he back in Blightly next week?

I don't know if anyone has already mentioned this, but I think James Ward will be in the GB top 10 next week.

Real shame, looks like both Ward and Eaton missed a lot of chances against Takeuchi....shame as the difference between semis and finals in 10Ks is huge pts-wise. I believe he'll be up to 557 approx in a couple of weeks time...just one big run away from top 500. First futures final can't be far away

Hopefully he gets wcs into the two GB challengers this autumn. Although he plays very much like a clay-courter from the baseline, stays a lot way back and hits with an extreme forehand grip....he's got the game to do damage on fast surfaces, with that big serve. Good hands at the net too...needs to come in more often

James is currently on a flight to Spain for a 15K this week....that's followed by Jersey and Glasgow 15Ks and then the challenger I imagine .
