Excellent to see Jamie and Josh in the final. Not sure who I want to win though, which i suppose means I'm not going to be disappointed!! I think Jamie should have too much for Josh at the moment but it could be close.

Am I the only one who thinks yeah great we have an all British final, but these lads should be in challengers not futures. With these two's talent and ranking they should be in final no questions. If the final was 2 Brits like Kasari vs Rushby it would be more of an achievement.
Dont mean to be pessimistic but being a realist too. Well done lads, but we need to raise the level
Yeah, I agree gazzpash but like Steven says my delight is that they have made the final and haven't lost to someone they really shouldn't lose to as Brits seem to be wont to do.
As for not being in challengers, for Baker and Bloomfield I think it's due to the Davis Cup, meaning they couldn't travel until the Sunday evening, I'll be surprised and disappointed if we see them in futures again this year.

Its Bakers 'home' tournament as well, although there are so many at Nottingham he'd be there too much if so.
As you say Bethan, the Davis Cup meant they were in the country and so I tihnk this was sensible. Plus for Jamie, he may have wanted to defend his title which is fair enough and defend his points which he needs to keep getting DA's into these challengers.
Is he MD in the US Challenger next week? Hope so, or he'll miss qualies sign in because of his success here.
Great stuff from Josh...back inside the top 300 now after dropping down to 381 earlier this month. Hopefully he keeps racking up the pts with not much to defend till December (he made those two finals in the Czech Republic last yr). Next up for him is Jersey, Glasgow, Barnstaple (challenger)
Jamie heads to Sacramento and then Calabasas. After that I dont know but I read that he's playing almost continuously till Dec

Good point..it's good to see them in the final but they really should have been there ! I think Jamie would have been in challengers but for DC plus he won the title here last yr and competing in it again offered best chance of defending those pts
As for Josh, he hasn't really cut the mustard at challenger level since July 2006...dont think he's made a qf at that level since. He's very much a confidence player so I think it's good him racking up the wins and pts at this level atm, and hopefully move towards top 250 in next few weeks...then he'll approach Barnstaple and the other indoor challengers in the best frame of mind.
For me, the most encouraging results of the week came from Tim Hewitt who's not achieved anything like that before.
Just wanted to bump the thread and say 'well done Josh' on a great week.
It's very true, that Josh is a confidence player even more than most, so lets hope this starts him off on a good run, and gets that ranking back up to where we know it can be.
