Glad to see Bloomers and Baker having few problems so far, they should both walk to the final. Hewitt has done very well so far and I hope he can put up a good fight against Bloomfield and I'd rather he didn't win!! Hope to see Goodall in the semis too.

Well done Tim! Good luck to him in his first QF appearance.
Just noticed Tim got in as a lucky loser. I think if Evo had of signed up for a LL, he'd have got the place ahead of Hewitt, as Evans was seeded 10 in the qualies vs Hewitt's 13.

I didn't think LL were chosen by seeding anymore, I thought it was just luck of the draw? That saying - well played for Hewitt and most likely a step closer to retirement for Flanaghan

LL are still definitely chosen by Ranking in accordance with the rules!
Vacancies in the Main Draw may only be filled by Lucky Losers. Lucky Losers are those players who have lost in the final round of Qualifying. If additional Lucky Losers are needed they shall be selected from losers in previous round(s) in the same manner.Lucky Losers shall be selected as follows: The order of the ranked players shall be randomly drawn, thereafter the order of the unranked players shall be drawn.
I'm not sure that it provides a clear answer however. The reference to order could refer to the order in the draw, but if it was done entirely on ranking then why would they need to specify that ranked players come before unranked ones. Clear as mud.
Have now found 2007 rules on ITF website and you are quite correct Mike55.
What I was looking at was 2006 version linked from ITF website which read:-
=============== 2006 version was much clearer before the change:- 8. i. Vacancies in the Main Draw may only be filled by Lucky Losers. Losers of the final round of qualifying shall be selected in accordance with their rankings on the Ranking list used for seedings in the Qualifying Competition. Ties shall be broken in accordance with Section K. If additional Lucky Losers are needed, the losers of the previous round(s) of qualifying shall be selected in the same manner.
The really crazy thing is that Hewitt is a LL and yet has had more wins this week than in the rest of his career combined....what a strange story.....he is only 18 and so maybe this is his break out week and will give him the confidence to do amazing things.
