Week 38 - Futures F17 (M) - Nottingham, Great Britain

Great effort from Dan Cox, and an excellent win against Juniad. Much as I like him and want him to do well I'm very glad Goodall came back and won the match in three, he can play at a much higher level than he is at the moment and I hope that he's now working his way back up to the challengers.

Hmm, Sheddie I believe that's what Arka would describe as inflating your post number. And I have NO IDEA what you could possibly mean by it! biggrin.gif

Goodall was always the favourite against Cox, and I guess it is good for him that he got the win to try and get him back towards the challenger ranks, so he can be in a position to play them at the start of next year

Good for Cox to get a set as well, and he is definately improving rapidly on the senior stage, and will surely make the top 1000 by the end of the year

Skupski did as well as expected really, and hopefully his first QF can be the kickstart he needs to start making them regularly

Guess the winner of the top SF will win the doubles tournament, as the best players are all in the top half, and good to see Barton/Davison in the SF's (although I don't know anything about them) so they get their first doubles points

Lovely week in all fpr Cox, I guess. I believe that he becomes only the sixth 1990 born player to beat someone from the ATP top 400.

Told you that it was much better that he played Futures than get a call for the DC team.

Josh beat Niland 0 and 3 the only time they played - in Jersey earlier this year. Also, Goodall must really love the courts because he won out here in 2005, I think.

Barton & Davison have managed to get to the Semi-finals with two walkovers!  Sure they do get the ranking points though.

Did you notice Dan Cox lost to Goodall by exactly the same score as he beat Junaid?

3-6 6-2 6-0

I wonder if the Goodall score is right, cos it's a odd coincidence - it's a odd score.

I did notice but as both LTA and ITF have it I guess it must be correct.

Good effort from Josh there, but this was a match that he needs to start winning if he is to get back towards the top 250 again

Barton and Davison finally got to play a doubles match in the tournament.... but lost 1 and 0, which shows they got an awful lot of luck to get there... still, they pick up some ranking points for that
