Good to see Natasha back in action, first tourney since beginning of June, 3 months out with a stress fracture, very similar to the injury Stoopy got (anyone know what's happening with her btw ?).
Not too much to defend this autumn as long as she makes a few 25K main draws so she should be able to get back into the top 400.
(5)Natasha Khan (GBR) has a bye Viet-Ha Ngo (VIE) vs Namrata Singh (USA) Paloma Diaz-Sada (ESP) has a bye (11)Lizaan du Plessis (RSA) has a bye
(6)Yera Campos-Molina (ESP) has a bye Ana Belzunce-Crompin (ESP) vs Irene Santos-Bravo (ESP) Montserrat Blasco-Fernandez (ESP) vs Kristina Snetkova (RUS) (13)Amanda Carreras (GBR) has a bye
Great to see Natasha winning so easily in her first match back. Shame Amanda couldn't build on her recent 10K success, but I guess those tourneys were on clay, so maybe the change to hard and increase in expectations didn't help her.
Mel won very easily 6-4, 6-1. She's got a good quarter...likely to be 8th seed in rd2.
Although Natasha lost the main thing is that she's back in action again and doesn't have much to defend for the rest of the year. After 3 months out, there must be a lot of rust there. Very surprising result for Amanda, hasn't lost to a lower ranked player for ages now...maybe courts here were too fast for her liking.
