Extremely impressive stuff...and she'll main draw in Seoul (WTA tier 4) and Quebec City....so in this form plenty of big pts could be coming her way

Anne has won her only previous match against Obziler...6-4, 6-7, 6-4 in the USA back in 2004. The Israeli is in great form having taken out 8th seed Shvedova (ranked 88) in 3 sets in rd1. She played Naomi Cavaday in New Haven qualies...Naomi was a set and a break up when Obziler retired. Obziler had a great start to 2007, making semi and quarters in two WTAs in the Far East. However hadnt done much after that till this week

Wow! clap.gifclap.gif Great win from Anne. Hopefully she can win again tomorrow (presumably) she's obviously in good form and it's lovely to see her reaching a new career high.

P.S. no mention on the news (bbc) as of yet furious.gif

great stuff! According to the LTA site Anne is the first brit girl to reach a WTA quarter since 1993. So a hugely significant victory in that respect, yet absolutely no mention that i could find on the bbc site.

She isn't called Murray, so of course there won't be a mention of her

Well done to her making the QF's, and hope she can make the best of this nice looking draw that has opened up, as I don't think she'll ever get a better chance to make a WTA final

Looking at an old article in British Tennis magazine I notice that Clare Wood reached the quarters at Brighton in autumn 1993, so that was probably the last occasion. The Beeb website / Ceefax are often very poor at covering less heralded Brits. By comparison ITV teletext had the story within a few minutes of match completion.

To answer an earlier query from Sheddie Anne's first win over a top 100 player this year was against Pironkova in the Fed Cup.

Anne is second up tomorrow (about 10.30 probably)

anne's on in a min...

shock result in the first match with poutchek losing, which means shoudl anne win today, she'll be playing some random ukraininan, ranked in the 160's, for a place in the final!! wow what a chance for her to get to the final of a tour event!! obziler will be a tough opponent though - she's got a good record against players ranked round about where anne is!
