Woooooooo. That should see Ross rise healthily into the top 100, maybe even as high as 90 or so

Was a topsy-turvy match...breaks were exchanged throughout the 1st set...eventually Booty and Hutch claimed the crucial one at 4-4 and served it out. They broke again to lead 2-1 in the 2nd, and took charge from there on
Fantastic chance to make the final, they played unseeded pair Chris Haggard (RSA) and Yen-Hsn Lu (TPE) in the semis. They knocked out the top seeds 6-3, 6-0 in rd1, I think Bopanna (played with Bhupathi) was injured tho so can't read too much into that result. In the quarters they beat Capdeville and Kunitsyn 10-8 in the champions breaker. Haggard's a veteran at 36, ranked 57 tho been as high as 19. Consistent year, started by making finals of Auckland and San Jose tho not been past ATP quarters since then (until this tourney). Lu's mainly a singles player, top 100 singles..doesn't play that much doubles any more
They lost 6-4 6-3 Disappointing really considering the opponents, they just couldent hold serve enough, infact they were broken three times in the final set and broke serve twice, still a good week for ross and gets him upto about 90 in the rankings.
Intersting that Howe's gone out there: is he coaching someone there?
Sorry for digging up an old topic but I didn't want to start a new one. I also hope that this hasn't been pointed out before.
I don't think Howe coaches any top player but I think it is sort of safe to assume that Howe lives or at least has a base in the Middle East. For one, six of his seven tournaments from the last six months have been in places more or less close to it - qualies at ATP Dubai, qualies in ATP Doha, qualies in ATP Bombay plus Futures in Egypt, Pakistan and Sudan. The other tournament was qualies at ATP Beijing and although Beijing is nowhere close to the Middle East, it's in Asia all the same.
Also, I read a few articles today that mention him playing local tournaments in the Middle East.
Some of us may remember the player called Jennifer Smith in the last article. She initially played for UAE, then for us and now it seems is playing for the UAE again.
