Week 37 - WTA Tier 3 - Bali

Yuan has proved rather problematic for Anne this year beating her 7-6, 6-3 in Indian Wells qualies and 6-3, 6-2 at Roland Garros. Both times Anne struggled with her serving against the Chinese counter-puncher, only managing to hold a handful of times. However, at that time she was struggling somewhat for form and confidence but now she's had a great couple of months, making two 50K finals and coming very close to qualifying for the US Open.

Yuan had a great start to 2007, she won a 50K in Nov 2006 and continued in that vein of form, winning a 25K in the States in March. However, since then her form has tailed off and Katie O'Brien beat her 7-5, 6-3 in Eastbourne

Nice easy win for Anne today, hopefully she can up it tomorrow...I'll provide scores on here for those who can't follow it live at the time

As DavidC says, wtaworld is the best site for WTA main tour, challenger results and OOPs....

Thank you, tutu and DavidC.  I have now registered with WTAworld, somewhere I had deliberately avoided until now. . .

Oh dear, somewhere else to spend a lot of time when I should be doing something else!

Disappointing news, Yuan won 6-1, 7-5...however provided that the top 4 seeds win their final qualies round matches Anne will be first in line for a lucky loser place

Do they do that new lucky loser draw now though - first 4 in line are put into a hat for places instead of it being done in ranking order?

I think the method of drawing from 4 only applies to Grand Slams and ITF events. However the top seed in qualifying Andreja Klepac lost to Ayumi Morita, and so Anne will be second in line for an LL

Meng Yuan drew Yaroslava Shvedova in the main draw, and the Russian lived up to her name losing 60 61 (in fact all 4 qualifiers won)

very dissapointing for anne not to take the chance but next week she doesn't even have to qualify and 1 win = 20 points i think. I hope she can get a good draw.
