(4)YUAN, Meng vs GRANDIN, Natalie (WC)SILFANY, Vivien vs (5)KEOTHAVONG, Anne
It's a 16 draw 2 round qualifying tournament, and Anne has been fortunate to draw a local wildcard in the first round tomorrow morning. If successful she may renew rivalry with Meng Yuan who has beaten her twice this year (last time in Indian Wells), but lost to Katie twice during the grasscourt season.
hmm...Anne definately has the ability to beat Yuan who's a counter-puncher, especially on hard. Anne could have won the match in Indian Wells, she should have won the 1st set, had so many chances and it was downhill from there...unfortunately she only held serve about twice in the match which proved costly. They also played in French Open qualies when Yuan won rather comfortably
Is the OOP out for tomorrow ? What's the time difference between Bali and GB ?
Praying that Anne can win that 2nd match and make the main draw. We don't get that very often with the women. Anne has an excellent opportunity here. Let's hope she's on fire and grabs this chance.
You know, this is one of the reasons I don't follow women's tennis much - the difficulty of finding any information! I have been on the tournament website and the WTA site, and still can't find the draw for this tournament - not even the main draw, never mind qualifying!
Plenty, but this is actually a Tier 3 tournament (225K) according to the ATP/WTA Official Guide! - can one of the moderators change the thread title please?
Anne has 3 points for her win and this increases to 5 if she beats Meng Yuan tomorrow. Play starts at 3pm local time, so Anne should be on around 10am our time, with live scores available via www.wtatour.com or www.bali-wtatour.com
I sympathise with Madeline, as the wtatour site is updated very little over the weekend, and the tournament sites are very variable in terms of whether and when they include up-to-date draws/results. As Tutu says the unofficial Wtaworld site is your best bet (especially for qualifying). They have the main draw, and if Anne wins she faces one of Hana Sromova, eighth seed Yaroslava Shvedova , Anastassia Rodionova or Marina Erakovic - none of which are especially bad draws for a Tier 3 tournament . The last named young New Zealander, who edged out Mel in 3 sets in a recent 25K tournament, would be a particularly good draw.
