Great start from Auckland/Becker, but it was the failure to break at 0-1 in the second set, followed up with the loss of serve themselves that turned the momentum around

Disappointing loss in the end for Auckland, who cannot buy a win at ATP at the moment. Hopefully something will come good in the next few months, and if he has to go back to challengers to build up the ranking again, then he'll have to do that

Just Jamie left in the doubles then

A disappointing end after such a good start. I really thought Aucks and Becker stood a chance but it just fell apart. It can't be easy having to link up with different partners.cry

Aunty apparently thinks otherwise:

Jamie Murray makes mixed progress

Britain's Jamie Murray won his opening mixed doubles match at the US Open alongside American, Liezel Huber. Wimbledon mixed champion, Murray, and world number one doubles player, Huber, beat fourth seeds Paul Hanley and Mara Santangelo 7-6 (3) 7-6 (5). Murray opens his men's doubles campaign with Eric Butorac against Tomas Behrend and Florian Mayer on Thursday.

Fellow Briton, James Auckland, teamed up with Germany's Benjamin Becker to beat Chris Haggard and Thomas Johansson. Playing together for the first time competitively, Auckland and Becker came from a set down to win 3-6 6-4 6-2.

*  Not like the Beeb to get things round its neck like that! eyepopping.gif  Would that that had been the result, though... cry
