That is insane! It's easily the biggest upset by a British player so far this year.
Balleret is good enough to win against loads of top 100 players on clay and is way higher than Futures level. In 2006 and 2007, he has beaten - Jonas Bjorkman, Albert Portas, Christophe Rochus, Seb Grosjean, Michael Russell, Chris Guccione, Edouard Roger-Vasselin and quite a few other top players. Compare that record with Ed's!
Go Ed Seator...for such a long time this guy has been picking up the odd point here and there. (He has 16 pts)
He has a career record of just 18 wins to 30 losses...slightly better in doubles...never broken the top 800. He has made 1 SF this year and two doubles titles.
At 21 he still has a chance to move up the rankings and perhaps still could surprise us.
Ed! Panfil is moving up the rankings quite quickly, so it'll be a tough match. But if he can beat someone of Balleret's class, he may as well as thrash him.
Panfil is 19...has made three 10k semis on Polish clay this yr but hasn't done much else....as Arka says, after that amazing win over Balleret Ed should be fav for this one....
Amazing results this week for the Brits, big surprise for me when I came back last night...I was like wow, usually by this stage everyone's all out, especially in the futures....
The Sutton academy guys (Ed trains there) are starting to make inroads in the rankings....Slabba, Seator....there's also Illingworth who will surely be top 1000 before too long...I saw a bit of his match v Oger at Cumberland and there really didn't look like much difference between them even though Oger's 300ish.
