15-40 on Naomi's serve. 2MP, and all over 4-6 6-1 6-1.

She put her all in there. The final set was much closer than 6-1 in real terms, but Naomi couldn't hold her serve, but couldn't quite break Klosel's despite real opportunities.

Not long before we see Naomi in slams though. Sad LL spots are by ranking, as Naomi would be great in the MD.

gutted. Great effort from Naomi. After the start she had I thought she was gonna breeze into the main draw! She'll be right for next years slams, hopefully not needing to qualify by next years US Open!!

Didn't they scrap LL by ranking and do it out of a hat now? Becasue people were abusing the system?

Oh dear! Anne retired at 6-3 3-0 down.

Omg, she retired, i just hope its nothing bad, that injury in 04 really put the buffers on her career, just have to hope its nothing serious, its so sad though, i really thought this was going to be her big break.:(

Well that brings to an end a fairly miserable week...okay so we had some players men & women in the final round but at least last year we had Josh making it !!!!!

Im gutted too. Someone on WTAWorld said they were there and it was annes eye, it became irritated and she had to stop and she was soo upset when she had to stop. Its soo annoying because if your eyes are messed up, you can't play tennis because your hand eye coordination will be messed up but her body is fine. Defenatly gutted. Now she just has to rest up and get ready for bali and all the other tour tournies she's going to be doing til the end of the year.

Anne went down in the final round & withdrew with an injury, I have heard it is a hamstring injury...? If I hear anymore I will let you know!! Shame she was playing well although was a set & 2-0 possibly 3-0 down.

Such a dissapointing end to the week.

Anne was in fine form, shame it ended in injury.

It was Naomi's 1st grandslam qualifying and she reached the final round. Only Anne and Bally have managed to even get that far. Maybe we are expecting too much too soon from her. Come next year she'll be qualifying for them.

I think the LL thing works now by a random draw between the top 4 ranked loosing players in the final round.
