interesting choice this one. this is pretty strong will be a good pracitse but is long way to go, she has points to defend from reaching cumberlnd final this week last year also
Anna went down 7-6(1), 6-3 in the 1st qualies round to Elizaveta Tochilovskaya, an 18 year old Russian lass ranked 529. Last week she played the same Finland 10K as Amanda Carreras and lost 1 and 1 in the quarters....
It's a bit of a shocker for Anna but it is her first tourney for 2 weeks and on clay too....in that time she's been on holiday, away from tennis so must have been a bit rusty
It's a bit of a costly loss as tennisbrain said, she had all those points from Hampstead to defend.....got some big tourneys coming up over the next few weeks so hopefully she can recoup some of those pts then
Next up a 50K in Moscow next week...then training at the MCTA and then a 10K in Ukraine
hmmm....strange couple of weeks for Fitzy...clay is by far her weakest surface though, she's said that to the press...kinda strange given how she trains on it at the MCTA I guess it's a bit like with Andy Murray...spent 3 years training on clay in Barcelona but it's still his weakest surface...though I think he would have done some damage this year if he'd been injury free
Anna's now spending a week training in Monte Carlo, then heading to Ukraine for a 100K before heading to India for WTA Kolkata qualies...where Arka will hopefully be reporting for us !
