No real surprises in the second round of qualifying...

2nd Round

Lizaan DU PLESSIS (RSA) (1) defeated Margot CARTER (GBR) 6-0 6-3
Yasmin CLARKE (GBR) (2) defeated Lisa BRINKMANN (GER) 6-1 6-2
Maja KAMBIC (SLO) (3) defeated Laura WHITE (GBR) 7-6(5) 7-6(1)
Kady POOLER (USA) (4) defeated Anna-Viktoria LIND (SWE) 6-4 2-6 6-3
Claire RICKETTS (GBR) (5) defeated Natasha STARLING (GBR) 6-1 6-2
Melissa BERRY (GBR) (6) defeated Harpreet CHANDI (GBR) 6-2 6-3
Carly HOMEWOOD (GBR) defeated Sarah STALLARD (GBR) (7) 6-3 6-1
Thuy-Dung NGUYEN (VIE) defeated Phillipa REAKES (GBR) 7-5 6-1

Du Plessis was a given to make the main draw. Good to see Yas beating foreign competition so convincingly. Mel Berry must be relieved to have a win under her belt even if it's only in qualies. Good to see Claire and Carly pulling through too....shame about Pippa Reakes though.

Main Draw:

Karen PATERSON (GBR) (1) Vs (Q) Kady POOLER (USA)
(Q) Maja KAMBIC (SLO) Vs Julia BONE (GBR)
(Q) Lizaan DU PLESSIS (RSA) Vs Louise DOUTRELANT (FRA)
Keren SHLOMO (ISR) Vs Martina BABAKOVA (SVK) (8)
Anna SMITH (GBR) (4) Vs Rosanna HATCH (GBR)
(Q) Thuy-Dung NGUYEN (VIE) Vs Elizabeth THOMAS (GBR)
Naomi BROADY (GBR) Vs Anastasia NEBOJANKO (GBR)
Jessica JACKSON (GBR) Vs Yera CAMPOS-MOLINA (ESP) (6)
Olivia SCARFI (GBR) (7) Vs Kirsty WOOLLEY (GBR)
Natasha HILLYER (GBR) Vs (Q) Yasmin CLARKE (GBR)
Anna KOUMANTOU (GRE) Vs (Q) Melissa BERRY (GBR)
Natasha MARKS (GBR) Vs Rebecca LLEWELLYN (GBR) (3)
Emily WEBLEY-SMITH (GBR) (5) Vs Amy SARGEANT (GBR)
(Q) Claire RICKETTS (GBR) Vs Amanda ELLIOTT (GBR)
(Q) Carly HOMEWOOD (GBR) Vs Kildine CHEVALIER (FRA)
Lucy WARBURTON (GBR) Vs Pauline WONG (NED) (2)

Some good draws for some of the Brits - Karen, Julia, Anna, Liz all have winnable matches. Quite a few all-British affairs which is good to see as it's due to there being so many Brits playing here rather than unfortunate draws. Lucy W and Jess Jackson have tough draws though, but who knows they could cause an upset as they both seem to have the potential from what I have heard.

Thats quite a strong field for a 10k these days.

I'm hoping Anna Smith can get back into some form and Naomi can get some wins under her belt.
