USO-Q

who will we have in the qualies?

boggo, bloomers, baker?  no goodall whose ranking has dropped a long way this year (from 205-340!). is jonny on the alt list?

realisticaly can any of the above qualify? boggo maybe could, but with his bad back recently, even if it is fully better its unlikey as he is so short of practice.

to be honest i would be suprised if jamie does, imo he would need a kind draw and step up hsi level.

Rich also not been in great form this summer.

with murray and tim also struggeling i dont think this uso will be one to remember.

I agree with the assessment, but traditionally the men do well here in qualies: Alex qualified in 2004, Andy in 2005 and Josh last year.

I think, as with any event, a lot will depend on the draw. With fair to good draws I reckon both Boggo and Baker have the ability to qualify so I've gone for that in the vote. Unfortunately I think Bloomers just isn't in good enough form to win three rounds of qualy even if he had a good draw. Hopefully he proves me wrong and his form has to turn at some point, I just hope it's this week!

i think it might be a washout BUT i voted for Baker as the only Brit who actually 'deserve' to be in the main draw. i think he will get into the final qualies round but end up losing. As for Boggo and the rest, i dont think they got a chance due to lack of match practice.

Agreed. cry  I voted for a wash-out, but would be only too happy to be proved wrong... hmm

woohoo, i wonder if he will catch up with boggo, he certianly enjoyed him at.... hmm i've forgotten the name of the event.

he's even at it in the preview, the usoq is the toughest tournemant in the world!
Once you've beaten 3 challenger lvl players lads the likes of fed, rafa, djoko in the MD is nothing!

'lose and you go home', yes just like any other event no the RR has been ditched.

glad to see ken is still firing on all cylinders.

thing is surely anyone who actaully listens to radio tennis is probably well into tennis already and doesnt need this 'bigging up'?

Great to see Ken covering this event.... all we need is Boggo, Bloomers and Baker to all play on court 11 (and the British girls as well)

As to who will qualify??? Baker and Boggo have the best chance, but it all depends on the draw that they get. If either of them get a section full of clay courters then they have a chance, but there are a lot of players that could trouble them (especially if Boggo isn't fit yet)

Hopefully they will all get easy round 1 draws so at least they get something from the week

Boggo being 16th seed (probably) does make it easier for him as he will be seeded to make the main draw and so will avoid names such as Haase and Dancevic who should make it... just have to hope he avoids Okun!

Anybody know where to find the draw, which must surely be available any time now?

The USO site just says in that section that it will have scores and results soon!

Richard Bloomfield WR 245 v Bryan Koniecko WR 1081 USA

Jamie Baker WR 231 v Brendan Evans WR 268 USA

Alex Bogdanovic (16) WR 124 v Robert Smeets WR 207 AUS

I'm very happy with that. All have winnable games. I suppose Boggo could have had it slightly easier considering his seeding but I would certainly have taken that if offered.

But looking further ahead Boggo will not meet anyone higher rank than himself smile, while Jamie would possible meet 8th seed Sluiter and 19th seed Cuevasblankstare but Richard could meet 4th seed Zverev and 26th seed Waske hmm
