One virtue (ish) of being one of the lowest ranked players in a masters series is the huge potential to gain points and another is the fact that fewer players around you are playing. So, Tim's nearest threat is Haase, who needs to win two matches to overtake. On the positive side of things, if Tim win's his first match he would gain 3 places by overtaking Luczak, Serra and Gulbis.

So Tim losing wasn't in the script but we'll just have to improvise.
Haase, his closest rival lost so that's pretty good. Roger-Vasselin also lost so that's two threats out the way.
Pless is Tim's nearest threat and he has to reach the final of Bukhara to overtake so things aren't looking too bad. Still the sooner we can get rid of pless the better so pins at the ready people!

I'd feared it would be this week but I think (emphasis on the think) he's safe for this week at least. Beyond that I don't know but I guess he'll be out by the end of the US open if not next week.
