Week 33 - Challenger 35K (M) - Bukhara, Uzbekistan

Good win for Josh, and this is great chance for him to salvage some pride for British tennis and win a few matches here.

Interestingly enough "Weintraub" means 'Crying Robbery' in German.

Rubbish! rofl.gif  Where on earth did you dredge that up?  disbelief.gif

I got this from the translater part of dictionary.com.   It's not always perfect and can be spectactualry wrong sometimes. evileye It amuses me anyhow.

Also, whats it got to do with germany. Weintraub is Israeli and they're playing in Uzbekistan!

To be fair, it wasn't completely irrelevant, just completely off target!  The Ashkenazi Jews of Israel, i.e. Jews whose ancestors came from Germany, France & Eastern Europe, took with them, & contributed to the country's linguistic melting pot, Yiddish (a word derived from the German word for Jewish). Yiddish is the second-most widely spoken Jewish language after Modern Hebrew (itself a language which emerged in the late 19th century & is based on different dialects of Ancient Hebrew & heavily influenced by a variety of European languages, again including German), though it is not one of the state of Israel's two official languages (those are Hebrew & Arabic). It is based chiefly on High (i.e. standard) German, with borrowings from Hebrew & some of the Slav languages. Many of the immigrants from Germany, in addition to speaking German as well as Yiddish (and/or Hebrew) inevitably had, & have passed on to their descendents, German-sounding names... wink

I'd be wary of using it again in future in situations such as this, if I were you:  if you're unfamiliar enough with a language to be forced to use such devices, you're never going to know whether it's telling you the truth or about to leave you with egg on your face - again... nana.gif  There'll always be someone ready & willing to point out to you the error of your ways! wink

If I was on Live TV i'd care, but I don't.  The only egg is on the faces of those who work at that site.  I'm just gutted Josh lost.  Not sure what you mean by 'Again', but i'll ignore it.
